Meeting with tradition bearers and national folk musicians

5 September @ 18:00 - 19:00

At Hildasholmsstämman, we will experience an intimate encounter with some of the tradition-bearers of Swedish folk music.

Ola Bäckström, Pär Ohlsson, Peter Rousu and Maria Wernberg present folk music sprung from Dalarna, with influences from Ångermanland. It will be a concert where the heartfelt, delicately beautiful and melancholic meet the danceable and swinging.

The concert takes place in the salon at Hildasholm, a venue where the music can come close to the audience.

About the musicians

Ola Bäckström, violin
One of the Swedish folk music scene's most prominent musicians from Dalarna, known for his innovative and technical fiddle playing.

Pär Ohlsson, violin
Like Maria, Pär has one foot in folk music and the other in classical circles. With roots in Rättvik and based in Leksand, he tries to make the most of both worlds.

Peter Rousu, guitar/bass
Peter is a versatile bass and guitar player, who graduated from the Royal Academy of Music. He is known for his work with, among others, Stora vägen, Jeanett & Peter, Fatang, Halifax Rättvik Trio and Supernova.

Maria Wernberg, violin
Riksspelman with roots in the Ångermanland fiddling tradition, with one foot in classical music and the other in folk music.
