Where houses and gardens meet England, Italy and the fairy tale world
On the banks of Lake Siljan in Leksand lies Hildasholm, the doctor and author Axel Munthe's wedding gift to his wife Hilda. The house from 1910 is well preserved and surrounded by a fantastic Arts and Crafts centre with gardens in close interaction with nature.
During the summer season we offer guided tours, art exhibitions and events for the whole family. Stroll through the gardens, enjoy a coffee in our café and experience the wings of history in one of Dalarna's most fascinating environments.

Three days of music and memories at Hildasholm
Three days of music at Hildasholm, Alfvéngården and Leksand Church were this year given a special setting in memory of Adam Munthe. Thank you to everyone who joined in and made the 2026 Hildasholm Music Festival a memorable weekend.

Success for the musical theatre Hilda at Hildasholm
The musical theatre production **Hilda** became one of the summer's major highlights at Hildasholm. Over three days, the auditorium was filled to capacity as history, music, theatre and marionettes created an experience that moved the audience. Here we look back at an unforgettable weekend.

Guided tours
Join us for a guided tour inside the beautiful house at Hildasholm. Our knowledgeable guides will take you through the house and its amazing history. Get to know the Munthe family and feel the wings of history in the house from 1911.
The garden is shown by our gardener, and includes both history and gardening knowledge.
Hilda's café
A unique and beautiful garden café in Dalarna, a perfect destination for the whole family.
Here you can enjoy both walking, beautiful nature and good lunch or coffee in the centre of Leksand.
14 green rooms
Many of the gardens at Hildasholm are the work of Hilda. She created them with inspiration from the Arts & Crafts movement. In recent years, a kitchen garden and a medicinal garden have also been added.
During July, gardener Ingemar Blomqvist shows the garden every Tuesday and Thursday at 13.

Nice place to have a coffee, walk around the gardens, take a guided tour of the house. A couple of interesting and pleasant hours. Very interesting about Axel Munthe and his family.
